swine flu and others

just want to update my blog about anything. monday seems kinda starting slow for me. either that or i'm still too tired to even use my brain and think or work..

anyway, it's about weeks after who announced the outbreak of the pandemic swine flu. been reading about it and til now, there are often part of our daily headlines.

the following are some facts about the pandemic swine influenza or famously known as swine flu (N1H1).

the virus
swine influenza or swine flu, is a respiratory disease in pigs caused by a certain strain type of influenza A virus. outbreak of this among humans are not common. most people get infected with swine flu through contacts with pigs. the severity of swin flu in humans can vary from mid to sever.

how the virus spreads
although people commonly get swine flu through contact with pigs, there have been cases of person-to-person transmission. experts think that coughing, sneezing, and contaminated surface can spread the infection among people, but it's still unknown how easily that happens.
however, virus cannot be obtained through eating properly cooked pork and any pork products.

symptoms
the symptoms of swine flu are similar to that of common flu:
cough
fever
soar throat
body ache
chill and,
fatigue
it may also cause a worsening of underlying chronic medical conditions. diarrhea and vomiting have also been reported as symptoms of the said epidemic.

treatment
antiviral drugs such as, oseltavimir or zanavimir, are recommended for treatment and prevention of swine flu. they are prescription medicines that helps prevents flu viruses from reproducing in the body and work best if treatment is started within 2 days of the onset of the mentioned symptoms.

prevention
here are a few prevention tips to protect yourself against swine flu as well as seasonal influenza.
avoid close contact with people who are sick.
stay home when you are sick. this shall help in preventing others to get sick as well.
cover your mouth and nose when sneezing and coughing.
wash hands frequently to prevent germs from spreading.
avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth to avoid germs or infection.
practice other good health habbits like getting plenty of sleep, keeping physically active and eating well.

so there, i should get plenty of sleep every night, which i don't usually get anymore these days.

other updates about my self. i just conquered mt pinatubo yesterday. my body is quite tired from the trekking activity we've had, more or less 1 hour of trekking going to the site and another 1+ hour going back. it was a great experience. will be posting some photos i took during the trip.

i am hoping to do more shoots starting this week! yey!
